Children’s Day COVID 19 Outreach
Children’s Day COVID 19 Outreach
Every year since 2015, we have organized a fun Children’s Day celebration for our current and past students where the children on that day, engage in educative, socially responsible and fun-filled activities.
To mark the Children’s Day Celebration on May 27th this year, PYP has set-up a fundraiser to help relieve the impact of Covid-19 on the families of our students, whose parents’ ability to make a living and cater for their family has become highly uncertain due to Covid-19. Pandemic such as Covid-19 exposes the inequality of standard of living and fragility of economies of developing countries like Nigeria. Therefore, there is a need now more than ever to provide relief materials to families whose incomes are below the poverty line and put a smile on the faces of their children in these trying time.
Since we are unable to organize our event as usual, we have decided to celebrate the day by sharing care packs to our students and their families this May.
Our care pack for each family will include:
- A carton of noodles
- Living essentials: Toiletries and hygiene care products
- Face masks
- 1kg Rice (*added when goal was surpassed)
Fundraising has been done locally and on GoFundMe platform. Within two weeks we had met our goal to to provide care packs to more than 130 families even though the fundraising was scheduled to end on Wednesday May 27th 2020. We have an incredible team of volunteers who tirelessly convinced friends and families to believe in the vision of this project and to support it through their donations. And we saw love shown as we surpassed our goals.
On Saturday, May 30th we would be distributing the care packs in Festac Town, Lagos State, Nigeria. Plan have already begun and our team are already running. Updates are on our Instagram page
We are excited we can make impact in our community in these times and we can do it together with you.
